Who Are Kimberley Opticians?

Liz went to Aston University and qualified as an Optometrist in 1991. Having worked in hospitals, independent and multiple environments for a few years before opening Oakwood Eyecare Centre with her husband (Tom) in 1994, Alvaston Opticians in 2007 and then Kimberley Opticians in 2011. She is known for her caring nature, she excels with young and old alike, but this is why having the “time” to spend with her patients is vital.

Tom went to Aston University and qualified as an Optometrist in 1990. He worked as a locum in an independent and multiple environment before opening Oakwood Eyecare with Liz in 1994, Alvaston Opticians in 2007 and Kimberley Opticians in 2011. He is known his thorough and patient nature and does the majority of the home visits for all practices. He is also responsible for marketing.

Laura worked at Oakwood Eyecare during holidays while studying Optometry at Bradford University and also did her graduate year there. After successfully qualifying as an optometrist in 2007 she continued working there and now also covers Alvaston and Kimberley Opticians. Being involved in all aspects of eye testing – she does home visits and childrens eye screening. As our clinical governance lead, she helps ensure that we always monitor and exceed the regulatory requirements.

Meghan started at Oakwood Eyecare in 2007 as a "Saturday girl", went on to become a Dispensing Optician and now proudly manages Kimberley Opticians. In her spare time she enjoys family, friends, cinema and walking with her dog.

Mike has worked at Kimberley since 2013 and does the majority of the glazing (fitting prescription lenses into frames). He enjoys helping patients choose new glasses. In spare time he enjoys the great outdoors and likes to travel.

Tracey started at Kimberley in 2013 and loves meeting the variety of people at work. She covers many roles within the practice and produces wonderful window displays. In her spare time she can be found travelling the Yorkshire coast in her camper van.

Carla has worked in opticians since leaving school in 2004 and then at Kimberley Opticians and Oakwood Eyecare from 2013. She has an administrator role and also helps patients choose glasses so "no two days are the same". She enjoys socialising with family and friends as well as reading, swimming and even going to the Spa.
